Faith is a living reality and must be connected with the exercise of charity. This was the message of Pope Benedict XVI to the Pro Petri Sede Association. Charity, he said, is a concrete manifestation of God’s love for humanity, and not a simple humanism. Material assistance, as necessary as it is, is not the entirety of charity, which is also participation in Christ’s love given and shared. The Pope insisted all genuine charity is a concrete manifestation of God’s love for humanity, and thus it becomes a proclamation of the Gospel.
