La Presidenta de la Comunidad de Madrid ha mostrado el apoyo institucional a la JMJ
En su visita a la sede central de la JMJ, Aguirre ha alabado el enorme trabajo de todos los voluntarios que se ocupan en ultimar todos los detalles para el inicio de la JMJ
Aguirre se ha mostrado convencida de que la visita de Benedicto XVI es un auténtico honor para todos los madrileños, sean o no católicos
Madrid, 29 de julio de 2011.- Este mediodía, la presidenta de la Comunidad de Madrid Esperanza Aguirre ha realizado una visita informal a la sede del Comité Organizador Local de la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud (JMJ) Madrid 2011, que se va a celebrar desde el próximo 16 de agosto hasta el domingo 21 en la capital.
La presidenta regional ha ido mesa por mesa saludando y preguntando a los voluntarios de cada departamento. Se ha mostrado especialmente interesada por conocer qué bebidas va se van a repartir en la mochila del peregrino ya que en el mes de agosto en la capital de España el calor es bastante elevado. Por ese motivo desde la JMJ se le ha querido obsequiar con un abanico con el logotipo oficial de la Jornada de Madrid, el cual ha tenido ocasión de utilizar a lo largo de toda la visita.
Aguirre ha querido “transmitir a todos los madrileños y a todos los visitantes de Madrid, a título personal y como presidenta de la Comunidad en nombre de los madrileños, el honor que supone para todos acoger la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud y acoger también la visita del Papa Benedicto XVI”. “Creo que para todos los ciudadanos de Madrid sean o no católicos, es un grandísimo honor tener a una personalidad de la talla de Benedicto XVI y acoger a jóvenes del mundo entero que vienen aquí con una visión espiritual, humanitaria, caritativa y por qué no decirlo, también con una visión religiosa”.
La presidenta ha destacado el trabajo y el esfuerzo desinteresado de muchísimos voluntarios que dan su tiempo para que todos los actos previstos durante la Jornada Mundial sean un éxito. “Detrás de la JMJ hay muchísimo trabajo, como he podido comprobar en esta visita”.
Por último ha querido recalcar que para la Comunidad de Madrid “es un auténtico honor y privilegio acoger esta edición de la JMJ y al más de millón y medio de jóvenes de todo el mundo que se espera que acudan a la Jornada Mundial entre los días 16 y 21 de agosto”. “Tuve la suerte de ser la presidenta cuando en la anterior Jornada se nombró a Madrid sede de la JMJ y espero que la Comunidad de Madrid esté a la altura de las circunstancias”.
Al finalizar la visita Esperanza Aguirre ha recibido como regalo la mochila del peregrino que se distribuirá entre todos los jóvenes que se hayan inscrito y ha charlado con varios voluntarios internacionales, que llevan meses trabajando en la organización de la JMJ.
En la Organización de la JMJ, trabajan voluntarios de países como Australia, Taiwán, Vietnam, EE.UU., Canadá, Honduras, Argentina, México, Portugal, Francia, Italia, Dinamarca o Alemania.
La Comunidad de Madrid forma parte de la Comisión Mixta para la JMJ, en la que también se encuentran la Presidencia del Gobierno y el Ayuntamiento de Madrid. Las tres administraciones públicas han colaborado en la organización de este encuentro mundial de jóvenes facilitando el uso de instalaciones y servicios públicos, aunque sin contribuir económicamente. La JMJ se financia en su totalidad gracias a las aportaciones de los propios jóvenes que van a participar, y por las distintas empresas asociadas al programa de patrocinios.

Madrid, July 29, 2011.- This afternoon, the President of the Community of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, made an informal visit to the headquarters of the Local Organizing Committee for World Youth Day (WYD) 2011 in Madrid, to be held from August 16 until Sunday, August 21 in the Spanish capital.
The Regional President went from table to table shaking hands and taking time to chat with volunteers from each department. She showed particular interest in the beverages that will be distributed in the pilgrim’s backpack, as the month of August in Spain’s capital is known for its high temperatures. Thus, the WYD organization presented her with a fan featuring the official logo of World Youth Day in Madrid, which she had the occasion to use throughout the entire visit.
Aguirre wanted to «share with all Madrilenians and visitors to Madrid, what an honor it is for me personally and as President of the Community of Madrid on behalf of all our citizens, to host World Youth Day and receive this visit of Pope Benedict XVI.» «I think that for all citizens of Madrid, Catholic and non alike, it is a great honor to host someone of such caliber as Benedict XVI and welcome young people from around the world who come here with a spiritual, humanitarian, charitable – and why not go ahead and say it, a religious – vision.»
The President highlighted the hard work and selfless efforts of many so many volunteers who are giving of their time to ensure that all the events planned during World Youth Day can be a success. «A lot of work goes into WYD and I have had the chance to witness this on my visit.»
Lastly, she wanted to emphasize the fact that for the Community of Madrid, «it is a real honor and a privilege to host this year’s WYD, along with the over 1.5 million young people from all over the world who are expected to attend World Youth Day from August 16 and 21.» “I was graced to be serving as President when, at the last WYD, Madrid was named as host for the following World Youth Day and now I hope that Madrid will rise to the occasion.”
After the visit, Esperanza Aguirre was presented with the gift of the official pilgrim’s backpack, which will be distributed to all young people who have registered. She also chatted with several international volunteers, who have been working on the organization of WYD for months now.
The World Youth Day Organization has on-site volunteers from countries such as Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam, USA, Canada, Honduras, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, France, Italy, Denmark, and Germany.
The Community of Madrid is part of the Joint Commission for WYD, which is also formed by representatives of the Spanish central government and the City of Madrid. The three governmental administrations have collaborated in organizing this international youth gathering, facilitating the use of public facilities and services, although without making any financial contribution. WYD is funded entirely by contributions from young people who will participate and the various companies associated with the sponsorship program.
